NORTHERN SIGHTS

Day 1. Auckland, Bay of Islands.
Crossing Auckland's busy Harbour Bridge we travel along the Hibiscus Coast to Matakohe, home to a boutique Museum with displays centred on early New Zealand pioneering history, the magnificent Kauri tree, it's timber and gum. Continue north to the beautiful Bay of Islands, the cradle of European settlement in New Zealand. On arrival, we take a guided visit of the historic Waitangi Reserve, view the historic Waitangi Treaty House and it's beautiful gardens.

Day 2. Bay of Islands, Freedom of Choice Touring.
Today you have the opportunity to explore this beautiful National Maritime Park, you choose the activity that suits you and we will include it. APT Freedom Concept. Go sailing, tour Russell, join the Dolphin Encounter, tour Cape Reinga and Ninety Mile Beach, take a tour of Kerikeri or enjoy a round of golf.

Day 3. Bay of Islands, Auckland.
What better way to explore New Zealand's finest National Maritime Park than on a catamaran cruise boat to Cape Brett and the famous 'Hole in the Rock'. Return this afternoon to the city of Auckland.

Day 4. Auckland, Rotorua.
Leaving the 'City of Sails' we travel south to Waitomo Caves where we join a silent boat ride and glide through a mystical grotto lit by thousands of tiny glow-worms. Emerge into daylight and continue to Rotorua, an important centre of North Island Maori culture. Tonight enjoy a Hangi (feast) and Maori cultural performance of traditional song and dance.

Day 5. Rotorua, Freedom of Choice Touring.
Today, you choose the activity and we will include it. Perhaps visitTe Puia Thermal Village, the Agrodome for an entertaining Sheep Show and Rainbow Springs Nature Park to walk amongst beautiful native flora or visit the Polynesian Spa and the Rotorua Museum. APT Freedom Concept. Visit the Agrodome, Te Puia Thermal Reserve, Rainbow Springs, enjoy the Rotorua Museum and Polynesian Spa, join a guided forest walk or experience a geothermal wonderland. Note: Country Homestay option available tonight.

Day 6. Rotorua, Wellington.
Follow the Thermal Explorer Highway to the heart of the North Island travelling through green country side and large alpine forests. View Wairakei Steam Valley, thunderous Huka Falls and tranquil Lake Taupo. Travel south and cross the vast volcanic plateau of World Heritage-listed Tongariro National Park. Continue to Wellington, New Zealand's capital city, where your tour concludes on arrival.
