DAY 1 Auckland, Bay of Islands (D)
Journey north and visit the Matakohe Kauri Museum near the historic Dargaville. This
museum is home to the largest collection of Kauri Gum in the world and showcases the
pioneering history of New Zealand's Far North. We then cross the Northland Peninsula to
the pretty Whangarei Town Viaduct where there is time to stroll along the waterfront or
peruse the shops and special interest museums. Continue to the beautiful Bay of Islands, a
National Maritime region.
Accommodation: Waitangi Gardens, two nights
DAY 2 Bay of Islands at Leisure (B)
Today we take the opportunity to choose from the many activities and tours available in
this spectacular Maritime Park (own expense). You may wish to enjoy deep sea fishing or
take a luxury cruise through the islands that give this area its name. Stroll along
peaceful forest and beach walks or play a round of golf. Perhaps explore further and visit
Cape Reinga, New Zealand's northern most point or catch the ferry across the calm, natural
harbour and explore the seaside town of Russell, New Zealand's first capital city. This
evening take the opportunity to experience some great New Zealand dining (own expense).
DAY 3 Bay of Islands, Auckland (B)
Enjoy a morning at leisure. Perhaps choose one of the many half day tours that are
available (own expense). Return to Auckland and we will arrange a transfer to the airport.
