Auckland - Wellington - Napier - Rotorua - Auckland
Six Day Tour.

A relaxing 6 day train tour of the North Island from Auckland south, including tours of Wellington, Napier wine district and Rotorua

Reports to Auckland Railway Station at 8.00 am. Departs at 8.30 am  EVERY DAY !

DAY 1: Auckland - Wellington
Board the Overlander train for a full-day journey from Auckland to Wellington.   Follow the Waikato River southwards through dairy farmland around Hamilton, negotiate the Raurimu Spiral, skirt around Mt Ruapehu and then descend from the central plateau to the Kapiti Coast and Wellington.  Stay 2 nights in Wellington.

DAY 2:  In Wellington
This morning a half-day tour of the city will take in the Parliament Buildings and 'Beehive', Old St Paul's Cathedral, panoramic views of the harbour and city from Mt Victoria and a ride on the cable car. This afternoon is free, perhaps to visit Te Papa Museum or the Museum of City and Sea.  

DAY 3: Wellington - Napier
Board your coach and travel via Palmerston North and Manawatu to the vineyards of the Hawkes Bay.  You will be met and taken on a tour of the vineyards and the the Napier district.  Overnight in Napier

DAY 4: Napier - Rotorua
This morning is free to explore the Art Deco city  we can recommend a guided walk.   At midday you cross the Rangitaiki Plains to Lake Taupo and o through exotic forest to fiery Rotorua.  Stay two nights in Rotorua.

DAY 5: At Rotorua
A half day sightseeing Tour is included, you will see roaring geysers, boiling mud pools at the thermal area, tame trout at the springs and perfoming sheep and dogs at the Agrodome.  This afternoon is free and there are many activities to enjoy.

DAY 6: Rotorua - Waitomo - Auckland
After leaving fiery Rotorua, you travel to Waitomo for a tour of the limestone caves. Board an underground punt to cruise in awe below a galaxy of glow worms. Continue via Hamilton and the Waikato River to Auckland once more. You arrive at approximately 5.10 pm.
